John 4: 46-54
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. 48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. 49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. 50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. 51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth. 52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house. 54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

Today, we're going to examine another of the remarkable miracles performed by Jesus.   This time as recorded in the gospel of John chapter 4 verses 46   through 54.   This miracle not only demonstrates Jesus's power over sickness,   but also highlights the importance   of faith and belief in him.   This is the miracle of Jesus healing   the nobleman son.   Let's open up with a prayer.   Dear god, as we   read the story of Jesus miraculous healing   of the nobleman son,   May we gain   deeper insights into his power   and his love.   Open our hearts to receive your word and help us   grow in faith.

John chapter 4 verses 46   through 54.   So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee where he made the water wine.   And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.   When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee,   he went unto him and besought him that he would come down   and heal his son,   for he was at the point of death.   Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders ye will not believe. The nobleman saith unto him, sir, come down ere my child die.   Jesus saith unto him, 'Go thy way, thy son liveth.' Today's passage brings us   back to Cana of Galilee,   where Jesus performed his first miracle of turning the water into wine.   In this very familiar setting, we encounter a a nobleman who is desperately in need of Jesus' help.   His son is gravely ill, and he travels from Capernaum to seek the healing touch   of Jesus.   The nobleman   is a man of significant status   and and likely of wealth.   He sets aside his position   to humbly beg Jesus   for his son's life.   This is this act of humility and of desperation   shows his recognition   of Jesus' unique power.  

Despite his social standing,   he acknowledges that only Jesus   can save   his son.   Jesus' initial response to the nobleman seems challenging,   unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by   no means believe.   Jesus addresses a common issue.   People   often seek miracles as proof of divine power.   Yet,   this statement also serves to test the faith of the nobleman.   Undeterred by this, the nobleman persists.   Sir, come down before my child dies.   His plea reveals a deep,   sincere faith in Jesus' ability to heal.   Jesus   honors this faith by telling him, go your way, your son   lives.  

The nobleman believes Jesus' word and departs heading home. Displaying   trust   without needing the physical proof.   As he returns home, his servants meet him with the news that his son is alive   and is well.   The timing of the healing aligns perfectly with Jesus' declaration.   And this miraculous event not only heals the boy,   but also ignites faith in the nobleman   and in his entire household.   We have 3 key takeaways to look at from this passage of scripture.   The first is   we have to understand   faith   beyond status.   The nobleman story teaches us that no matter our status or our position,   we must approach Jesus with humility   and with faith.  

Our second point is that both you have to be able to believe   without seeing.   True faith often requires us to trust in Jesus' word   without needing   immediate evidence   or signs.   And our 3rd takeaway is about the transformative   power that Jesus holds.   Jesus' miracles   are not just about physical healing,   they are also about a spiritual transformation,   and leading people to believe   in him.   The story of Jesus healing the nobleman's son is a powerful reminder of the importance   of faith. It encourages us to trust in Jesus' word and his power,   regardless of our circumstances.  

As we reflect on this miracle and on this scripture,   may we be   inspired   to deepen our own faith   and rely on Jesus in every   area   of our lives.   Let's close out this part of our lesson now, in a prayer.   Heavenly father, we thank you for the example of faith displayed   in the story of the nobleman's son.   Help us to trust in your power and goodness,   even when our circumstances   seem dire.   Strengthen our face, our faith, lord.   Teach us to rely on you in every aspect of our lives.   May we experience the healing and the transformation that comes from believing in your son,   Jesus Christ.
